I have been informed of the following sad information. 

H0684067 Roger Pilon (Engines) died peacefully after a short illness on the 22 May 2011 age 70.

This information came to me via Roger's son Ian, who also included a short obituary

Funeral is on Fri  3 June, Rose Hill Crematorium, Cantley, Doncaster at 1440.

PILON Roger RVM, BEM, MSM.  H0684067 WO Roger Pilon died peacefully after a short illness on the 22 May 2011 age 70. He joined the RAF in Jan 1958 and trained as an apprentice 88th Entry No 1 wing RAF Halton until 1961. Then posted to Honnington on Victors 1B. He then went on operations to Aden Khormaksar during the Radfan. He was then stationed at Valley and on promotion to Sgt to Benson as Crew Chief on the Wessex with the Queens Flt. After Benson he was posted to Cyprus 72 -75. Then to Lyneham,  Gutersloh,  Finningley HQ SAR 202/22 Sqn,  Aldergrove  230 Sqn  and finishing his career as WO Eng 100 Sqn at RAF Finningley. He then became Chief engineer for 100 Sqn during its time at Finningley and then on to Leeming.  He served in the RAF as a serviceman and civilian for 48 years was a widely respected engineer and Warrant officer and will be sadly missed by his family, friends and former colleagues.
